Jake Routzahn 2023Jake serves in Arizona with the U.S. Southwest Ministries team, ministering through evangelism, discipleship, and Native American Ministries.

My calling to serve the Lord began when I was very young. I was blessed to have been raised in a church where the Great Commission was important, and I vividly remember hearing missionaries speak on missionary Sundays. I did not realize how much of an impact these services had on me until my time at Ohio Christian University.

During my time in college, I had the chance to serve on numerous short-term mission trips. Through these trips, I experienced a constant theme of darkness and felt a tangible weight. As I was processing these experiences, I opened my Bible to John 1:5, which says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (NIV). As I read this passage, I knew that the Lord was inviting me to walk with Him and to shine His light.

I believe that Jesus cares for the WHOLE person. In the Gospels, we see Jesus meet physical needs, emotional needs, and, of course, spiritual needs. At the Christian Community Center (C3) in Arizona, we make it a priority to model Jesus’s heart in how we minister to those in the foster system.

C3 partners with organizations to meet a variety of needs, including prevention and reunification, providing training and support services for foster and adoption families, ministering in group homes, and providing residential services for young adults who age out of foster care.

At C3, I am a part of a team focused on a wholistic approach to ministry, supporting existing ministries while also helping to develop a new ministry that will provide nutritious meals for group homes and aged-out foster kids.

In addition to my work at C3, I help coworkers serving in Native American outreach through Bible camps, camp meetings, and church outreach.
