Jake serves in Hungary, ministering through evangelism and discipleship.
My calling to serve the Lord in Hungary began when I was very young. I was blessed to have been raised in a church where the Great Commission was important, and I vividly remember hearing missionaries speak on missionary Sundays. I did not realize how much of an impact these services had on me until my time at Ohio Christian University.

During my time in college, I had the chance to serve on numerous short-term mission trips. Through these trips, I experienced a constant theme of darkness and felt a tangible weight. As I was processing these experiences, I opened my Bible to John 1:5, which says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (NIV). As I read this passage, I knew that the Lord was inviting me to walk with Him and to shine His light.
I have always had a passion for discipleship. While in college, I noticed a coffee shop is a setting in which people can gather to study the Word and worship with one another. Since college, I have always dreamed of opening a coffee shop to build relationships in the community and share the Gospel. I am excited to do just that in Hungary.
God has placed a passion on my heart for discipleship as well as a sense of urgency for shining God’s light in the darkest of places. Matthew 5:14-16 says, 'You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven' (NIV)."
