David UhlThe General Missionary Department (GMD) is pleased to announce Dr. David Uhl as the Director of Missional Engagement. In this newly established role, Dr. Uhl will work alongside the General Missionary Superintendent and the broader GMD team to expand the CCCU’s missional footprint. His responsibilities will include equipping Missionary Presidents and local church leaders, church relations, resource development, and supporting our District Missionary Committees.

Dr. Uhl is a distinguished leader, educator, and minister, with a multifaceted career spanning public service, education, and pastoral ministry. He was born and raised in Lancaster, Ohio. He began attending Faith Memorial Church as a teenager. He is a graduate of Ohio Christian University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Religion. He went on to earn a master’s degree in higher education leadership and later obtained a Ph.D. in Organizational Management and Leadership.

Dr. Uhl is an ordained CCCU minister. He has served as a Children’s Pastor at Crossroads CCCU, Pastor of West Union CCCU, Vice President of Advancement at Ohio Christian University, and recently completed thirteen years as Pastor of Rushville CCCU in Rushville, Ohio. Dr. Uhl serves in various denominational roles beyond the local church, including as a member of the General Board of Trustees, General Missionary Board, and West Central District Missionary Committee Chair.

Dr. Uhl also serves as the Superintendent and CEO of the Fairfield County Board of Developmental Disabilities, a role he assumed in January 2023 after a decade of progressive leadership within the organization. His previous positions include Director of Business Development and Government Relations, Interim Educational Services Director at Forest Rose School, Director of Services and Supports, and Assistant Superintendent. He is a proud member of Rotary, serving as District Governor for Rotary District 6690 during the 2023-24 year. Dr. Uhl was named one of Columbus Business First’s 40 Under 40 in 2018.

General Missionary Superintendent Rev. Michael Tipton shared, "Dr. Uhl has consistently demonstrated a heart for missions and a clear vision for what it means to be a missional church in today’s world. We are excited to welcome him into this new role and look forward to how God will use him to help lead our denomination into deeper missional engagement."

The mission field is everywhere – from our neighborhoods to the nations – and I believe God is calling us to renewed faithfulness and creativity in reaching people with the Gospel.”
