South Central District: Rev. Mike Holbrook Print E-mail

holbrook.jpgMike Holbrook will be the new District Superintendent of the South Central District.  Mike will be bringing a wealth of experience to the leadership of the South Central District.  He was serving as the Assistant District Superintendent and is completing 16 years as the pastor of Circleville First Church of Christ in Christian Union.  Mike is the son of Delbert and Ellen Holbrook of Circleville and has two sisters Nancy Dixon and Connie Whaley.

Mike grew up in the Circleville area and was a graduate of Logan Elm High School in 1973.  Upon graduating from high school, Mike went to Ohio University Chillicothe.  His intent was to be a coach and work with young people.  While a student at Ohio University, Mike accepted Jesus as his savior in September of 1973 while attending a revival at Circleville First Church.  It was then Mike began to believe God wanted him to attend Circleville Bible College but it wasn't until the summer of 1974 that he enrolled as a student and he began his studies at CBC that fall.  While a student Mike traveled in the College Quartet and served as the Associate Pastor at Circleville First Church.  At the winter revival in February of 1976 Mike was sanctified and later in that same revival he accepted his call to preach.  He graduated from Circleville Bible College in 1978.

Mike spent a year in Duncanville Texas as the Youth Pastor to the Evangelical Church in Duncanville.  The next year Mike was asked to be the Director of Enrollment for Circleville Bible College.  He served in that capacity for the next four years.  Also in 1979 he was ordained by the Churches of Christ in Christian Union.  While serving the college as Director of Enrollment Mike met Charla Condon and they were married in September of 1983.  Following their wedding Mike and Charla went to Alma, Georgia to pastor the Evangelistic Temple.  They pastored the church in Alma for three years.  In 1986 Mike became the pastor of the Circleville First Church of Christ in Christian Union.  He pastored that year and was asked to go back to Circleville Bible College, but this time as the Vice President in Enrollment.  Mike accepted that challenge and for the next four years was the Vice President in Enrollment until 1991.

In 1991 Mike was asked once again to be the Senior Pastor of Circleville First Church.  This is a position he has held for the last 16 years.  Under his leadership the church has continued to be a growing congregation in which they have outgrown their current facilities and has purchased property for a new church campus.

Mike has served the Denomination in many ways over the years.  Besides his time at the college and his pastorates, Mike was the General ECY President for six years.  He has also served on many boards and committees on the District and General levels.  He is presently a member of the General Board of Trustees and the Ohio Christian University Board of Trustees.

Mike and Charla have two sons.  Ryan will be in his second year as a student at Ohio Christian University this fall and Chad will be a junior at Logan Elm High School.

holbrooks.jpgMike and Charla will be married 24 years and have committed their lives to serving the Lord and to building the Kingdom of God.  They desire to bring glory to God in all that they do.  They bring a heart for the Great Commandment and the Great Commission and therefore they bring a heart for serving the South Central District as the next District Superintendent.
