The Christian Education Department (CE) exists to serve and equip congregations and leaders. Many leaders serve in a congregation that has under 200 in attendance each week, and it is with this in mind that CE is proud to welcome Karl Vaters to this year's CE Leadership Training Event. Karl is the author of the book, The Grasshopper Myth: Big Churches, Small Churches and the Small Thinking That Divides Us. The conference will be held at Ohio Christian University on September 9th, 2017, and final registrations are requested to be submitted no later than Wednesday, September 6th.
Did you know that most of the congregations in North America average under 200 in attendance? The most disturbing thing about this statistic is that most of the pastors who serve these congregations and the congregations themselves feel discouraged about their size.
Karl's passion is neither to help pastors grow churches bigger or to settle for less. He believes Small Churches are not a problem, a virtue or an excuse. They just are. And they can be pastored well. You do not want to miss the excellent insights Karl will bring to the table during the event.
This year's event will also feature a simultaneous second track for those who work with children. Gabriel Galdamez has been involved in creative ministry to families for over 15 years. Gabriel is passionate about creatively communicating Christ and equipping others to do the same. He has had the privilege of teaching at regional, national and international conferences and leading trainings for missions to Mexico, Panama, Nicaragua and Ecuador.
Gabriel will also be joined by Kristofer Sommerfeld. Kristofer is a respected puppeteer and puppet builder in the field of Christian Puppetry and teaches at regional, national, and international conferences as well as "one-on-one – team training" for individual churches and ministries.
