The General Youth Department exists primarily to promote and develop dynamic youth ministries among our churches. The goal of the board is to assist students and youth leaders with the materials and experiences in ministry that will develop the individual into a fully committed and devoted follower of Jesus Christ and to assist leaders in attaining that goal for their students.

The object of the Evangelical Christian Youth is threefold:

• To evangelize students throughout the world, seeking always to win others to Christ

• To build up its members in Christian experience and holy character and to instruct them in the doctrines of the Bible as taught by the Church;

• To promote wholesome, Christ-centered activities for young people to aid in the development of soul, mind, and body.
  

This is to embrace:

• The organizing and maintaining of youth organizations on the general, district and local church levels;

• A sincere and persistent effort to bring all students into the experience of salvation and sanctification as taught by the Scripture and the Church;

• The encouragement and promotion of higher education and special training for students to qualify them better to serve Christ and the Church effectively;

• The editing and publishing of ECY materials for the advancement of the cause of Christ.
