Dan Harrison was born in southern Indiana. It was there that he first came into contact with the Churches of Christ in Christian Union. In 1970 he began attending the Hillham church and on May the 10th he was saved.

Following graduation from high school in 1972 Dan enrolled at Circleville Bible College. "The decision to attend C.B.C. is one I never would have made without the support and encouragement of my pastor, John Maxwell. He made me believe in myself and the God-given potential he saw in my life." Before school began in September, Dan was attending campmeeting on the Mount of Praise. That is where he met a beautiful young lady named Cheryl Uhrig. She became his wife just two years later.

Following graduation from college and his ordination in 1976 Dan began his pastorate with the Churches of Christ in Christian Union. He is currently pastoring the Winchester, Ohio congregation where he has been since 1982. During Dan's pastorate in Winchester the a.m. worship attendance has grown from 100 to beyond 350. This growth has necessitated the construction of a new sanctuary in 1988, the purchase of five acres and a gym in 1997, the purchase of 36 acres in 2001 for future relocation as well as the construction of a new children's ministry building in 2005. A move to multiple a.m. worship services in September of 1998 was another important step in the realization of God's preferred future for this church family.

In 1991 Dan began attending Olivet Nazarene University in pursuit of a masters degree in church management. He graduated from this program in January of 1994.

Dan has served on several denominational boards and committees through the years. Perhaps his most challenging and fulfilling denominational service has come with the chairmanship of the General Christian Education Department which he began in 1992. In May of 1999 Dan was quite surprised with the honor of being chosen as the Circleville Bible College Alumnus of the Year. Since 2000 Dan has also served on the General Board of Trustees and since 2004 he has also served as the Assistant General Superintendent.

"I love the Lord, His people and the work He has called me to be a part of. My two major goals at this point in my life are to love God and to love people. If I can do those two things well I will count myself a success in life no matter what else happens or doesn't happen."

The key focus of the C.E. Dept. is as follows:

The C.E. Department exists to assist local churches in the realization of the Great Commission. We strive to do this through

An annual training event offered each fall featuring tools and resources necessary for effective church ministry.

Communication pieces including: A quarterly newsletter, affirmation letters, a departmental website, and e-mails.

A spring rally focusing on affirmation and encouragement shared in the context of a dinner and concert.

Providing a lending library comprised of a broad cross section of resources that would be of interest to anyone involved in local church ministry.
